Rooted and Grounded
We are living in a time of crazy, wild, times! One day things are great the next day everything is a mess. Some-days the presence of God in our lives is amazing the next day we don't even know if were saved. We have to be rooted and grounded in Gods love and His word and not moved by feelings and emotions. While feels and emotions are a gift from the Lord we cannot be led by them.
In this generation we have a tendency to get caught up in all sorts of high energy worship, prayer, teachings, gatherings, ministry, and events of all sorts but when it all calms down, what is left? Those events and high energy and exciting gatherings and they are to encourage us to go deeper in relationship with Jesus, with our heavenly Father and to know the Holy Spirit. They are not just for us to feel good and leave and look for the next fix like a spiritual drug addict.
We need to ask ourselves are we in a true relationship with our Beloved Bridegroom King or are we just learning about Him, ever hearing but never coming to the knowledge of who He really is? (Mark 4:12). While it is important to know all about Him and His ways and what He likes, The bottom line is we must know Him. All the conferences, meetings, and high points are to help us advance Gods kingdom here on earth. They are here to help us grow and should never take the place of true relationship with Him.
What does relationship with Him even look like?
Jesus came to show us. He said that He only did what He saw the Father do. Hmm?(John 5:19-20) He was our example so we need to pay attention to this. How did He see what the Father was doing? Remember he laid down being the Son of God and became man. He operated like we have to to show us how to do it. He would pray and then what he saw or heard in prayer he would do. This is our example and blue print for releasing the Kingdom on earth like it is in heaven. It is important to sit still with a bible open in front of you waiting on Him to speak.
A while ago a well known talk show host mocked a man of God by saying "its one thing to talk to God but he said God talks to him and that is crazy or he has a mental illness". Sadly a huge portion of the church thinks this way. We need to understand that God is alive and a real person and He is still speaking today. Many Christians don't really believe God speaks because the don't really understand He is alive and real because they have no relationship with Him. They are worshiping like a false religion does or worshiping the idols of the idea of it all. So many just don't get it that He is real and alive and wants to communicate with them! In this age we live, we must begin to hear His voice and know the difference between God, the enemy, and ourselves.
Many are afraid God might actually speak to them if the listen so they don't and are OK with just hearing about God and going through religious motions. Then there are those running everywhere trying to get a word from God through someone else instead of hearing Him for themselves. They have no real relationship with Him. They run around doing what they "think" God likes and wants out of human understanding and reasoning instead of really doing what He wants them to do.
This gets into scary territory. God said in Matthew 7:21-23.. "Not everyone who says to Me, " Lord, Lord', shall we enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in your name?'
23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' This is one of the first scriptures I stumbled onto as a new believer. From there on out I wanted to know God and I wanted Him to know me. So I figured out as you sit quietly and listen He actually begins to speak things to you!
I then got scared because I thought what if the devil is speaking? So Holy Spirit showed me from the beginning to use the bible and have it with me when I pray. He told me "a good soldier is never without his sword"!
When God says something to you it will always, always, always line up with His word. You don't read into the scriptures but you read out of them. What I mean by this is that when you read your don't twist the scripture to mean what you want it to mean you don't put your meanings on it. You read it, meditate on it, and let the Holy Spirit bring the understanding. Sometimes the word of God is tough and we need to change to become what it says we are to become. That is where we start squirming and changing what He is saying because we don't want to change.
You will also feel a peace in your gut, (we call this your spirit). Holy Spirit will speak to your human spirit. If you ask God for something He will answer you. We need a church who is listening and waiting on the Lord like Jesus did. Then not acting upon it till He says to act. I believe this will change everything in the church as we do this.
Jesus is looking for those who will love Him out of choice and not religious duty. He wants to speak to us and fellowship with us. the problem again is we don't set still long enough to hear Him. I'm convince the devil keeps us running around getting just enough spiritual snacks to "not" be effective but stay immature, confused and questioning everything. If we would shut down all the noise and wait, the Holy Spirit would clear up all of our questions and confusion and we would grow so fast we would put the devil on the run.
Ephesians 3:17-19 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height--19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
God wants us to understand and know Him. He wants to pour out His fullness and wants us to know His love in width, length, height , and depth. This is wild if you think about it! He goes on to say He wants us to know the love He has for us in a way that is beyond our human knowledge. He also wants us to be filled with the fullness! Wow!
I think this is a good place to start meditating and get quiet and let him speak to you about all this. It is time to be rooted and grounded in Him!
